Together CAD/CAM allows you to design
a piece of jewelry using a computer (CAD)
and create an exact model of that jewelry
piece using a computer controlled manufacturing
device (CAM).
Our
3-D design software can utilize all
file types compatible with any CAM device
and allows us to quickly generate a precise
wax model ready for casting. These CAM machines
can be either additive (infuses
plasti-wax or resin models for burnout/molding)
or
subtractive (cutting
away at a wax
block).
Both
methods offer a finely detailed model —
something that is nearly impossible to do
by hand — while taking much less time.
These technologies represent the future of
the jewelry industry. Many jewelers successfully
use CAM "service bureaus" who specialize
in prototype output.
